Caregiving Tips

The caregiver is a vital part of the hospice team. The role of a caregiver is usually fulfilled by a spouse or other family member, but may also be a close friend or significant other. It is the caregiver, with the help of friends and/or family members, who take care of the basic daily tasks of caring for the patient.

Intermountain Hospice will provide caregivers with practical, individualized tips to help manage each patient's unique symptoms.

Tips we offer can include:

How to give medications.
Techniques for enhancing the patient's comfort how to reach a hospice nurse "on-call".
How to provide personal care.
How to care for a weak or bed bound patient.
What to expect as the disease progresses.
